Taxes
Gary on the Issues

Making Illinois a more business friendly place to operate would increase tax revenues and jobs, and would provide long term financial stability to the State. The state legislature’s preferred method of increasing revenues is to increase tax rates. This is flawed logic, and it needs to stop!

Chicago residents are the most heavily taxed of any major city in the State. Illinois citizens have among the highest tax burden in the country, yet the state falls in the bottom 15% of states in almost all major economic measures. After the temporary tax hike of 2011, the state’s outstanding bills were not reduced one penny.

In other words, the politicians just spent more money, not even addressing our outstanding debt! So ask yourself, is this tax and spend policy making your life better? I believe in increasing revenues and therefore long term stability through a favorable business climate, not through higher taxes.
